MLB DFS: Power Index – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates – 9/30/23

The last Saturday baseball slate of the MLB DFS season features a compelling board with strong options for both hitting and pitching across 11 games on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The slate is topped by the regular hard-hitting squads, with the Padres leading the way in a walk against Mike Clevinger, the perpetually (lately) disappointing Yankees against the Royals pitching staff, the Dodgers drawing a full start from reliever Tristan Beck, and the Braves facing Joan Adon as -353 favorites. There is a broad middle from which a slate-winning or contributing stack could be drawn, but there are also strong pitching options including Spencer Strider, Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw (who may work just 5.0 innings again), Luis Castillo, Merrill Kelly, and even strong values like Drew Rom, Clarke Schmidt, and the gruesome untrustworthy but potentially dominant Dr. Andrew/Mr. Heaney against the free-swinging Mariners in a crucial game on both sides. Getting to a broad spread on a slate like this is strongly recommended for full builds.

Main Slate Power Index – 9/30/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
