MLB DFS: Power Index – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates – 9/27/23

The baseball season winds down with a unified slate featuring eight games on both DraftKings and FanDuel tonight. The board has a deep pitching pool with a very high peak around three legitimate aces, with a wide middle filled with capable starters like Dane Dunning and Griffin Canning, who will be facing one another in a duel for the middle. The bottom of the board is very clear cut, there are several do not play options and a Coors Field game on tap, narrowing the pool of viable pitchers somewhat but leaving plenty of quality from which to choose. The hitting pool will be focused on the Dodgers at Coors Field and the Braves once again, with several other teams also drawing good marks at the plate. This seems like a day on which to fire up a concentrated pitching pool with a fairly broad spread of bats.

Main Slate Power Index – 9/27/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
