MLB DFS: Power Index – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates – 9/21/23

The largely disregarded Thursday night MLB DFS slate features just seven games on DraftKings and FanDuel. The board features several premium teams flashing massive power upside, including the Orioles and Braves who both land well above average up and down the lineup. The pitching slate has a few premium options in Tarik Skubal and Gerrit Cole, and there is a decent mid-range of starters that includes Max Fried, David Peterson, and Jose Berrios, with a cheap bottom-end that is fairly playable as well. Getting to a spread of options both at the plate and on the mound seems like a solid approach, though no one could argue with limiting pitching shares to the very top-end options on a small low-value slate of this nature.

Main Slate Power Index – 9/21/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
