MLB DFS: Power Index – 9/7/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Thursday evening MLB DFS main slate has an early 6:40 ET start time with six games on each site that will lack attention around the industry and nation. The eyes of the world will, of course, be focused on Thursday night football, which can create opportunities in MLB for sharp gamers, albeit in smaller contests with smaller prize pools. The slate includes the Braves facing the specter of Adam Wainwright and leading the world for power once again, though they slip to second behind the Dodgers by collective fantasy points on today’s stacks board. The Mariners, Guardians, and Yankees are all drawing reasonable marks for power but overall this is a board that has several talented pitchers and, outside of the obvious, no clear-cut spots for power production. This seems like a slate on which to get to a broad spread of teams in rotation while heavily leaning into some of the prime options both at the plate and on the mound as the focus plays.

Main Slate Power Index – 9/7/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
