MLB DFS: Power Index – 9/6/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The MLB DFS main slate features only six games on Wednesday evening with a pitching slate that peaks extremely high but has a fairly weak middle and a wide bottom. This looks like a slate that will be won with bats once again, although the power numbers across the board are lower than on yesterday’s slate, with the Royals leading the way in a good matchup against Joan Adon on today’s slate. The Astros are pulling in OK numbers against Max Scherzer in his duel with Justin Verlander which could lead to more offense than expected, and the White Sox and Mets are both pulling in reasonably good projections in strong matchups for their hitters. Outside of a few clearly good options, including Spencer Strider, the pitching board is very weak, and ownership will likely be concentrated on the name brands, so embracing a bit of risk on the mound for a discount is a strong approach to this slate.

Main Slate Power Index – 9/6/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
