The Labor Day Monday MLB DFS main slate commences at 2:10 ET with seven games on FanDuel and DraftKings with a very interesting shape for DFS scoring potential. There are strong run totals in the high-fours with a few creeping into the low-fives on a deep slate of sameness, with only a few high-end pitchers taking the mound for their respective teams. Jose Berrios will look to shut down the Athletics from the top of the pitching board while Merrill Kelly has an equally good matchup against the Rockies in Arizona and Justin Steele will deal with the free-swinging Giants and Cole Ragans will be looking to continue his strong late-season run against the limited White Sox. The slate is loaded with power potential, a Dr. Andrew & Mr. Heaney game for the Astros hitters leads the way on the power board with the Red Sox drawing strong marks against Aaron Civale and the Diamondbacks facing punching bag Peter Lambert. Getting to a strong spread of options both on the mound and at the plate on this slate is the suggested approach to lineup constructions.
Main Slate Power Index – 9/4/23
The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
