MLB DFS: Power Index – 9/20/23 – 12:20pm Slate (DraftKings Main)

Wednesday brings a badly split slate with a nine-game main slate commencing at 12:20 p.m. on DraftKings and FanDuel opting for a 6:40 five-game evening slate, with DraftKings using only four of those games on their mid-sized night slate. This tool is focused on the early main slate on DraftKings mostly because they are still trying for their MLB DFS customers and FanDuel has largely given up on the last two weeks of the season. The board features more hitting than pitching, but there are several good options on the mound, including Logan Webb, George Kirby, Merrill Kelly, and several others. The slate is topped by the Padres and Braves, with the White Sox pulling power marks against Josiah Gray after largely disappointing as a value option on the Tuesday slate. The Twins and Reds are flashing realistic potential for power from the middle of the board, while the Astros, Orioles, and Mariners could all make noise in that range as well. This is a slate that looks like it will require a bit of a spread across options both at the plate and on the mound, there are far fewer clear-cut must-haves than there were on Tuesday.

Main Slate Power Index – 9/20/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
