MLB DFS: Power Index – 9/13/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Wednesday MLB DFS main slate is broken beyond repair from site to site, with FanDuel opting for a 6:35 ET start and including four late afternoon games that are not on the seven-game DraftKings slate, but also foregoing the final game of the night between the Padres and Dodgers, which is naturally included on DraftKings. The pitching pool on both sites is fair, there are viable options but FanDuel has more depth by the simple virtue of having more games available. The same is true of the power index and most highly projected teams of the day, many of them are from the earlier set of games that will be missing from the DraftKings board. Overall, this looks like a slate that will take a lean toward bats, outside of a few of the premium names there are pitchers who are around mid-level and some who are unreliable for power. To further confuse matters, three of the teams on the slate are using an opener-follower configuration. We recommend throwing a blanket over outcomes at the plate and utilizing a fairly concentrated pitching pool for a mess of a slate.

Main Slate Power Index – 9/13/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
