The tiny Thursday evening MLB DFS main slate features only three games with a fairly obvious peak point on the pitching board in Spencer Strider, though the Atlanta ace will be facing the Dodgers in a pitching duel with Lance Lynn. Those two are the name-brand starters on a board that also includes Braxton Garrett in a tricky spot in which the Nationals may flash more power than they are showing on the board below. The Giants are showing strong marks for power in a both-sided situation against Pedro Avila, who is projected well on the pitching board. Getting to a broad spread and embracing more diverse lineup constructions is important to success on a three-game slate, though we tend to not allow hitters against our pitcher unless there are only two games available.
Main Slate Power Index – 8/31/23
The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
