MLB DFS: Power Index – 8/30/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Wednesday evening main slate includes only six games with a very messy pitching board and the Braves at Coors Field once again. The slate gets underway at 6:40 ET on both DraftKings and FanDuel to accommodate three early games that feature most of the viable pitching on the board. Yankees starter Gerrit Cole and Marlins lefty Jesus Luzardo are sure to be crushingly popular from the top of the projections boards around the industry, with the opposing pitcher in Luzardo’s game most likely checking in third for popularity as he does for projections. Dane Dunning offers a potentially interesting option from the mid-range against the Mets while Ryan Pepiot, a young Dodgers starter facing the Diamondbacks may actually be the fifth-best option out of 12 starters, things get ugly from there. There is plenty of power and the potential for fireworks in essentially every game, with the possible exception of the low total in Flordia in the only game with two talented pitchers. Atlanta once again leads the world and they are carrying an implied run total above 8.0 into tonight’s contest from the top of the power index and the projections board. Texas is facing Denyi Reyes, the Dodgers have a potential cakewalk against Brandon Pfaadt, the Yankees right-handed power will be brought to bear against Joey Wentz, and the balance of the slate includes less interesting lower-end squads at low prices for filler.

Main Slate Power Index – 8/30/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
