MLB DFS: Power Index – 8/24/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates – Updated

The Thursday evening main slate features just five games on both FanDuel and DraftKings with a fairly short pitching board and a list of teams capable of damaging the limited starters that will be taking the hill. This is a slate that has a significant offensive lean, it will most likely be won by bats with a concentrated pool of ownership around just a few of the key pitching options. The short slate makes it easy to gain a foothold on shares over a wide range of probable outcomes, and the limited pool of options on the mound winnows the list of required combinations quite a bit further for this slate.

Main Slate Power Index – 8/24/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.

Note: the board was updated to fix a transcription error in the Cubs’ power numbers in the original Power Index – 2:00 pm ET
