The short six-game MLB DFS main slate takes a different shape from FanDuel to DraftKings tonight. The blue site gets rolling early with a 6:40 ET start time that includes the Rockies vs. Rays game, while DraftKings holds off until 7:05 ET but still has six games with the inclusion of the second game of the Reds vs. Angels doubleheader. The board includes a number of premium options that appear on both sites, the Angels are pulling strong marks for power but dip in overall fantasy point projections and points-per-dollar on the full stacks board, while the Braves, Astros, and Blue Jays are fairly highly ranked across the board and the Dodgers are pulling slate-leading marks in everything but home run potential against a limited starter whose short sample may still be influencing their power marks. There are only a few high-end pitchers on the slate and several will be on limited innings, the board includes more flawed options than quality so embracing a bit of risk on the mound with a wide net over options at the plate will be paramount tonight.
Main Slate Power Index – 8/23/23
The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
