MLB DFS: Power Index – 8/22/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Tuesday evening MLB DFS main slate features a dozen games on both DraftKings and FanDuel and a loaded board on both sides of the game. The pitching pool is fairly deep with strong options at the top end at high prices and a solid handful of interesting value plays available on the mound as well. The hitting pool is showing good power in a few obvious spots, the Braves lead the world for power once again and the slumping Yankees are right on their heels in a matchup against up-and-down starter Josiah Gray, with New York adding some young options to their lousy lineup. The Padres and Reds are drawing strong marks against more talented starters and the Mariners rank out very well once again in their matchup with Mike Clevinger. The Angels rank sixth on the power board but second by collective fantasy point projections and first for points-per-dollar value across both sites in a matchup against Graham Ashcraft. An abundance of options appears through the middle of the board as well, the slate demands a broad spread of combinations both on the mound and at the plate tonight.

Main Slate Power Index – 8/22/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
