MLB DFS: Power Index – 8/21/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates – Updated

The eight-game MLB DFS main slate has a fair amount of power to offer against mostly pitchers from the middle of each team’s rotation. There is one true ace on the board and several capable arms that will play well for MLB DFS purposes at various price points, but overall this slate seems to take an offensively-oriented lean. The Astros are showing strong marks for power against James Paxton in a both-sided situation that probably favors Houston bats, given their very low strikeout rates against lefties, the Padres are facing Ryan Weathers, Miami is showing pop against Michael Wacha, and the Mariners look to continue their onslaught against limited Touki Toussaint from near the top of the board. A mid-ground comprised of teams like the Mets, Braves, Red Sox, Reds, Angels, and Cardinals gives the slate a lot to work with, several of those teams are facing lesser starters.

Main Slate Power Index – 8/21/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.

Update: The Reds @ Angels game has been postponed, the board has been updated accordingly.
