MLB DFS: Power Index – 8/14/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Monday MLB DFS main slate features just eight games on both DraftKings and FanDuel but the board is absolutely loaded with potential with a Coors Field game and a few very high implied team totals floating several squads to the top of our projections. There is a fairly deep list of playable pitchers, with only the Coors Field situation and, perhaps, one or two matchups to avoid like Clarke Schmidt facing the Braves in Atlanta, as spots to avoid on the mound. The top of the power index is dominated by the Rays who will be facing an opener-bulk reliever situation with Ryan Walker and Sean Manaea, followed by the Padres against talented young Grayson Rodriguez and the Mets against rookie hurler Quinn Priester. The Braves are a lurking threat in any matchup, though they fall short of the top of the board on this tool and our Suggested Stacks, where they rank third by collective fantasy point projections. The slate demands a broad spread across the options both at the plate and on the mound, this is a slate on which covering as great a range of potential outcomes as possible, while making specific decisions about Coors Field, is recommended.

Main Slate Power Index – 8/14/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
