Sunday afternoon’s main slate features eight games on both DraftKings and FanDuel with a board that has a few high points for pitching but also several low-end starters who can be targeted with bats. The board is dominated by the Astros against Chase Silseth, but the Angels, Cubs, and Blue Jays all also look to be in very good hitting situations. The Yankees flashing a bit of power upside, primarily around the usual suspects in a difficult matchup against excellent young Eury Perez. The Rays are also playable for power from their spot on the board, but they do not have an easy matchup against Tanner Bibee. Getting to a spread of the premium options on the mound with a few price and popularity mixers included in the shuffle, while rostering the high-end hitting situations as primary stacks and the full board with a broad spread through secondaries is a good approach to a slate of this size and shape.
Main Slate Power Index – 8/13/23
The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
