MLB DFS: Power Index – 8/12/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Saturday evening main slate features nine games on FanDuel and 10 on DraftKings with the second game of the Braves vs Mets doubleheader included. The slate features a loaded board for hitting, less so when it comes to the mound. DraftKings gamers will have the presence of Spencer Strider as a luxury, while FanDuel players will be dealing with somewhat thin options for their single starter, with Brandon Woodruff, George Kirby, Andrew Heaney, and Cole Ragans available there are a few options but they are sure to be popular while the remaining board is unreliable. This has the makings of a slate that will be won with bats once again, the Dodgers are set to mash against Peter Lambert, the Braves draw Jose Quintana, and the Angels, Cardinals, and Padres are all showing high-end power on the board. Getting to a broad spread of options at the plate and embracing some of the alternative options on the mound is the recommended approach to this slate.

Main Slate Power Index – 8/12/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
