MLB DFS: Power Index – 8/10/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Thursday night main slate features just four games on both DraftKings and FanDuel, starting at 6:40 ET with two games with a 7:10 start in Boston soon after, followed by a West Coast game from Los Angeles that will commence three hours later, most likely after the three early games have all concluded. That contest features Dodgers ace southpaw Clayton Kershaw facing the Rockies in what has become the top target in all of baseball (taking the LHP vs COL), and the Dodgers are a massive favorite ranking third on our stacks board for fantasy points even with a bit of a lack of home runs showing in the power index. The Cardinals top the board for home run potential in a matchup with Zack Littell but the day is also showing some exciting spots in Boston, which will be extremely popular once again with the Red Sox at a slate-leading 6.4-run implied total. The Phillies are also flashing power and projections upside, facing lefty Patrick Corbin. Getting to a spread of players on the offensive side of the game on such a short slate is a simple task, finding the correct combination of pitchers with so little with which to work is a bit more of a challenge.

Main Slate Power Index – 8/10/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
