MLB DFS: Power Index – 8/04/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The 11-game Friday night main slate is loaded with mid-range pitching options and potential at the plate around the league. There are only a few apex predator options on the mound, though there is a fairly good mid-range on the large slate, which should leave a wide range of good to very good opportunities for bats. The few strong pitching options are at a variety of price points, which makes it easy to create a good blend of combinations, both on the mound and at the plate. The focus should be primarily on a concentrated pitching staff and a broad spread at the plate once again, with targets squarely on the backs of some of the more vulnerable pitchers on the board, which does certainly include Alek Manoah, despite some career history checking the Red Sox power marks below they rank far better for collective fantasy projections in our stacks tool. The top of the list includes several hard-hitting star-studded teams as well as a few surprises, primarily the Pirates in what should be a good matchup against Colin Rea. There is an abundance of opportunity for stacking with the Phillies, Red Sox, Brewers, and Cardinals all pulling implied team totals well over 5.0 and several teams in the high fours.

Main Slate Power Index – 8/04/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
