MLB DFS: Power Index – 8/01/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The massive Tuesday main slate features 14 games on both DraftKings and FanDuel with a board that has a distinct lean toward starting pitching. The player pool is littered with high-end pitching options in various spots at a wide range of prices, which both have a bit of a limiting impact on many offenses around the league and creates a slate that demands a broad spread of shares on the mound. There is a Coors Field game in play for offense, the White Sox are facing homer-happy Heaney, the Brewers align well against Josiah Gray, and the game in the Bronx has a chance to provide fireworks on both sides. Other situations like the obvious Braves facing Patrick Sandoval or the Mets against Zack Greinke should also be playable on a day that has us targeting some of the weaker starters in a big way, but that is also the approach that most of the field will take in this situation, so it is important to keep an eye on the popularity of specific lineup constructions.

Main Slate Power Index – 8/01/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
