MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/9/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Sunday afternoon main slate caps the first half of the season off in style with a great day of pitching. The board is littered with solid options on the mound, which has a somewhat limiting effect on the power index and overall fantasy point projections. There are still several targetable spots for power with a few hard-hitting teams taking on lower-end starters, though the Braves matchup against Zach Eflin that tops the board is more driven by the overwhelming power that Atlanta has shown all season than a lack of quality from the pitcher. This slate demands a spread of shares across several of the premium pitching options available, there are good pitchers at a variety of prices that can be utilized in combination to create a diverse pool of lineups. Differentiating the few very strong hitting opportunities from the mid-range and bottom of the board is a more challenging task, there are likely to be a few concentrated spots of popularity on this afternoon’s slate.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/9/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
