MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/31/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The nine-game Monday main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel features a board loaded with opportunities at the plate and limited mostly mid-range pitching options on the mound. This has the shape of a slate that will be won at the plate, the Braves lead the board for power once again, they will be facing average righty Griffin Canning while the Padres take the top spot by overall projections in their game at Coors Field, though it was incredibly close. The Yankees are facing the top starter of the day but they have respectable power numbers and the Rays are outpacing them on the other side of what could be a high-scoring game in the Bronx if the Yankees offense delivers. With Tyler Glasnow and Corbin Burnes available, the slate is not without ace-caliber pitching, there are a few good next-tier options before the bottom falls out of the pitching slate. Taking a broad approach to bats and a more concentrated pool of options, while still leaving good angles for value and ownership combinations, is the recommended approach to construction on this slate.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/31/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
