MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/29/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The 13-game Saturday evening main slate somewhat resembles Friday’s gigantic 14-game contest on both DraftKings and FanDuel, in that there are numerous capable pitchers, though the pinnacle of this pitching pool is a lower point on the overall scale. The broader than it is tall pitching slate offers the ability to mix and match a variety of combinations at the plate with reliable (enough) starters on the mound at a wide range of pricing allowing access to virtually any combination at the plate. This slate demands a bit more of a spread on the mound than last night, where a concentrated pitching pool was possible with the presence of six highly projected ace-caliber starters, several of whom fully delivered on their projections. Today’s slate requires a spread on both sides as there are many good spots for hitting on the board as well, with the Braves yet again leading the way for power potential and fantasy points in a matchup against Julio Teheran. The Yankees are in favorable conditions but they will face a good starter again in Baltimore after getting shut out last night, the Twins, Mets, and Dodgers look to be in better spots for reliable power and run creation with their cakewalk matchups.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/29/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
