MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/28/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The massive 14-game Friday night main slate has a wealth of options both on the mound and at the plate on both DraftKings and FanDuel. There are premium arms to choose from for pitching shares and several of the top offenses in the game are facing lower-end starters in excellent hitting conditions. The national heatwave is putting numerous teams in positive conditions for bats, there should be several major scoring outbursts around the league with a handful of high-end performances from pitchers on a slate that will almost certainly be won by bats. Getting to a broad spread of coverage on the potential outcomes for hitting with a tighter more focused pitching pool is probably the approach, but that group of pitchers should include options from a range of salaries so that constructions have room for changes from one lineup to the next.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/28/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
