MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/27/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The miniature main slate on Thursday night includes just three games with a 7:10 ET start time on both DraftKings and FanDuel, though only one site offers serious contests this evening and it’s not the blue one. The hitting board is dominated by the Mets in a matchup against Josiah Gray, who has had home run issues throughout his brief career but has taken strides forward through most of this season. With a heatwave and high winds blowing out in Queens, as well as some rain looming, the conditions are ripe for a power outburst in that game. The White Flag Sox land second on the board after officially packing their season in with last night’s surprising Lucas Giolito trade to the Angels, the team’s bats are intact and the lineup is fully healthy for once in a matchup against talented Tanner Bibee, the Cubs look like a good option against soft-tossing Miles Mikolas, while the bottom three teams are facing the three higher-end starters on the board. Shuffling the deck significantly and mixing up combinations of hitters and pitchers while embracing the bottom of lineups is the approach to building tournament entries on such a short slate.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/27/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
