MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/26/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The short Wednesday main slates get rolling at 6:40 ET with six games, including the Angels at Tigers matchup, on FanDuel and with a traditional 7:05 ET start time and five games on the DraftKings board. For a short slate there is a wealth of pitching available, at least half of the starters on the board are playable or better. There is also a bit of power slipping through the model, the Astros are drawing top marks for their matchup against homer-happy Heaney and the Mets are flashing upside for long balls in Yankee Stadium after delivering from a high ranking across our tools in yesterday’s matchup. The powerhouse Braves drop to fourth for home run potential but are set to “destroy” at all times and are pulling the top overall average projection in our stacks tool. A short slate allows an easy spread of shares or the opportunity to concentrate a lot of ownership on specific plays to make stands either with or against the field that are more difficult to occupy when there are 20 or more teams available.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/26/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
