MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/22/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Saturday main slate lands in the evening with a 7:05 ET start with six games on DraftKings, where the Mets at Red Sox game is not included, and seven on the blue site where it is on the board. The slate is ripe with solid pitching options, there are not many spots that are lousy for power and very few, possibly no, easily targeted pitchers. Even rookie Allan Winans is pulling in a respectable projection and has reasonable expectations for quality after a strong season in AAA for Atlanta. The two top spots on the power index come against Josiah Gray, who has been a target for the past few seasons but has been much better at controlling home run upside this season, and in the game at Fenway Park that does not exist on the DraftKings slate. Pitching is going to be critical on a slate of this nature, with so many good options it is likely that many of the 14 teams will be limited in their output at the plate, so getting to the correct arm with price considered is a crucial point in lineup building that will either allow or block access to combinations of hitters at the plate.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/22/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
