MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/21/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

Regularly scheduled programming returns to MLB with a standard 7:05 ET start time for the Friday night main slate on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The 11-game slate features just a handful of premium pitchers, but several of those are in plus-plus matchups, with a fairly broad list of playable options from a bit further down talent mountain. There are also highly targetable spots for home run potential, whether that is the Dodgers going up against talented but homer-happy Heaney, the Reds facing Tommy Henry in their home bandbox with a high implied total and good marks for both them and the Diamondbacks, or the Mariners facing Kikuchi, just to name a few. This has all the makings of a slate that will be won and lost at the plate with the right combination of full stacks.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/21/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
