MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/19/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

Wednesday’s eight-game main slate is unlikely to set records for offensive output not seen since the late 1800s like last night’s slate did, but there does looks to be a significant amount of offense available with a thin pitching board once again. Several of the options near the top of the list of starters are high-end ace-caliber pitchers in a variety of matchups, they will be highly popular selections on the mound because there is a steep decline in talent after the fourth or fifth name on that list. Several of the top fantasy point-producing teams are facing the back end of their opponent’s rotations, creating major potential at the plate on a slate that will demand correct pitching selections to unlock the necessary combinations at the plate. Embracing a bit of risk on the mound is probably a good way to differentiate on this slate while also reducing the price of a lineup in order to fit bats that are otherwise inaccessible with the premium arms included in a lineup.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/19/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
