MLB DFS: Power Index – 7/17/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The 10-game Monday evening main slate gets underway at a traditional 7:05 ET start time with a loaded hitting board. The pool of viable pitchers is somewhat thin, while there are a few name brands on the list of available pitchers many are in bad matchups or performing poorly this season (we’re looking at you, Luis Severino) while many of the teams near the top of the power index are facing lesser starters. Getting to a mix of quality pitching options with a strong blend of the teams facing low-end starters is a must, but the board is also somewhat muddled in Vegas, with only the Giants and Tigers, of all teams, totaled over 5.0 implied runs. The messy slate is ideal for tournament play and should create a dynamic contest that demands a broad spread of coverage.

Main Slate Power Index – 7/17/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
