MLB DFS: Power Index – 6/8/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The short Thursday evening main slates take slightly different shapes, with FanDuel opting for a 6:05 ET start and including five games, and DraftKings coming in for the remaining games at 7:05. The scheduled White Sox vs Yankees game that is listed as a fifth game on DraftKings has become the second game of a doubleheader and will not count, so there are only four games on DraftKings tonight. The slate includes several aces, with Framber Valdez, Spencer Strider, Zack Wheeler, and Justin Verlander taking the mound, and several serviceable mid-level starters are in play as well, meaning popularity is likely to be hyper-focused on only a few hitting situations. Finding underrated opportunities for power, perhaps the Astros against Jose Berrios, for example, rather than simply targeting the less-known inexperienced starters, could be key to getting ahead of the field tonight.

Main Slate Power Index – 6/8/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
