The nine-game Saturday afternoon MLB DFS main slates get underway at 4:05 ET on DraftKings and FanDuel in a slate that appears to have a fair amount more to offer at the plate than on the mound. There are only a few name-brand starters taking the mound, along with a few potentially under-the-radar options that can provide value in good spots, but this has the makings of a slate that will be won with bats. In particular, the Braves and Angels are taking up residence at the top of the power index in a pair of stellar matchups against low-end pitching. The two teams are destined for significant popularity on the slate, but there are plenty of ways to offset that ownership push with lower-owned options from further down the board in a variety of combinations.
Main Slate Power Index – 6/17/23
The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
