MLB DFS: Power Index – 6/15/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Thursday evening main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel is a more simple seven-game affair than the monster schedules that MLB DFS gamers have faced the last few days. The slate includes a compelling mix of pitchers with a fairly long gentle downward slope from aces like Shohei Ohtani to the bottom of the board, giving it a broad mid-range for mixing combinations of starters and team stacks at a variety of price possibilities. The top of the Power Index sees two up-and-down lineups with star power taking on talented young pitchers which creates a fun mix of unpredictability and upside both at the plate and on the mound, Logan Allen is particularly interesting with the Padres pulling in a good projection and good home run marks, but the pitcher answering back with a quality projection of his own in our model. Similarly, AJ Smith-Shawver is pushing a bit of uncharacteristic power upside toward the Rockies lineup while also pulling in a strong projection against a bad team.

Main Slate Power Index – 6/15/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
