MLB DFS: Power Index – 9/1/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Friday night MLB DFS main slate is the direct opposite of last night’s slate with a massive 14-game 28-team extravaganza that includes a wealth of pitching and plenty of primed spots for hitting. The slate has an embarrassment of riches on the mound, many of the teams are at the top of their rotations and there is a long list of quality at a variety of prices that demands a wide net be thrown over pitching plays. The spread at the plate is more straightforward than on the mound in this one, the Blue Jays are drawing high-end projections at Coors Field while the Braves, Red Sox, and Astros leads the slate for power potential in interesting matchups. A good mix of teams of varying quality continues the power index, with the Tigers, Marlins, and Orioles all showing home run potential in their matchups with weak pitching. Covering a wide range of potential outcomes is the key to success on a slate like this, avoiding concentrated ownership on the same specific team stacks beneath specific pitchers or pitching combinations is a quick way to ensure that a full portfolio of lineups is well differentiated from the field.

Main Slate Power Index – 9/1/23

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
