MLB DFS: Power Index – 6/6/23 – DraftKings & FanDuel Main Slates

The Tuesday main slate features 12 games on both DraftKings and FanDuel, with a traditional 7:05 ET start on both sites. The packed slate features a Power Index that has a broad middle but peaks somewhat lower than we are used to seeing, with no team cracking even the 9.0 mark for the full lineup and only the Dodgers top-6 landing above that level for power. The slate includes a long list of good-not-great pitchers, most of whom are, at their worst, not gascans who are lousy for power. With so many viable pitchers and a low-end pool for hitting, this could be a fascinating one to watch. Of course, there is a Coors Field game on the board, that contest is carrying by far the day’s highest run total and includes the Giants, who land fourth overall on the Power Index as well as the Rockies, who will be facing opener John Brebbia followed by lefty Sean Manaea, and who may be slightly better for power potential than their ratings against Brebbia would suggest in the overall sense.

The power index represents a team’s opportunity for home run upside in the matchup against the scheduled starting pitcher. This is not a direct guideline for stacking, but it can be utilized to determine the most likely sources of power-based contact, hitters who are not homering are frequently hitting doubles and driving in runs, and providing valuable MLB DFS scoring. The “Full” column averages our home run opportunity score for each player in the lineup from 1-9, while the “Top 6” column averages only hitters 1-6, where teams typically place their most significant bats.
